Peel

A peel is a professional treatment that deeply renews the skin and visibly improves it. It stimulates the production of new skin cells, improves circulation and activates collagen and elastin. A peel can also be used preventively to keep the skin vital and resilient as it ages. Our skin specialist carefully tailors every treatment to your skin type and skin condition.
A peel is suitable for:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Loss of firmness and mild sagging
Premature skin ageing
Dull, tired skin
Pigmentation and sun damage
Discolouration after inflammation or acne (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, PIH)
Acne and acne scars
Enlarged pores, rough skin texture and other irregularities
Smoker’s skin
We work with three leading brands – DermaQuest, Cosmedix and Dr. Schrammek Green Peel® – each with its own unique action and strength. Using her expertise, our skin specialist determines which peel your skin needs and guides you through a targeted treatment course.
Each brand works with different strengths and levels. For DermaQuest and Cosmedix from Level 1+ to 4, and for Green Peel Fresh Up and stronger variants, it is essential that the skin is properly prepared with the recommended home-care products. This way the skin responds optimally to the active ingredients, irritation is prevented and you get the best result from your peels.
Treatment course
A single treatment has a refreshing effect. For in-depth skin improvement and a long-lasting visible result, a course is recommended, complemented by regular maintenance treatments.
For skin improvement we recommend a course of 6 treatments, or 6–8 for persistent problems. After that, a maintenance treatment every 4–6 weeks is sufficient.
DermaQuest peels
DermaQuest offers innovative peels that perfectly combine science and nature. The formulas contain powerful acids such as salicylic acid, glycolic acid and lactic acid, enriched with plant stem cells, antioxidants and peptides. This ensures maximum results and a faster recovery. Depending on the skin condition, the intensity can be built up step by step through different levels (1 to 4). We always start with a Level 1 peel.
Cosmedix peels
Cosmedix works with the innovative Chiral Correction technique, which uses only the active, “good” side of a molecule. This makes the peels highly effective and extra kind to the skin. Many formulas are also enriched with encapsulated retinol for even more intensive skin improvement.
From Level 1+ upwards, it is essential that the skin is properly prepared with recommended home-care products that suit the treatment. This way the skin can respond optimally to the active ingredients, irritation is prevented and you get the best result from your peels.
A special part of the range is the Deep Sea Peel: a powerful herbal peel with algae and coral extracts, completely free of acids and retinol, which is massaged into the skin by hand. The peels are available in different levels (1 to 4), which are built up step by step depending on the skin condition.
Our specialists will be happy to advise you on which products are most suitable for your skin and your treatment plan.
Green Peel® – Natural skin renewal
The 100% natural herbs are carefully massaged into the skin. This stimulates microcirculation and blood flow, so that skin cells absorb more oxygen and nutrients and remove waste products faster. The natural repair process is optimised as a result.
The Green Peel® also provides refined, controlled exfoliation: enzymes and fine structural particles remove dead skin cells and stimulate cell renewal from within. At the same time, fibroblasts are activated, increasing collagen and elastin production. The result: firmer, suppler and more resilient skin with a fresh, healthy appearance.
The Green Peel® comes in four variants, which can be built up step by step depending on the skin condition and the desired result:
Intro GP – the mildest variant. Gives the skin a gentle refresh, purifies and brightens the complexion. A must as a first introduction to the Green Peel®, especially if the skin has not yet been prepared with the recommended products.
Fresh Up GP – a gentle refresh without peeling. The skin immediately looks fresher and more vital; ideal for tired, dull or blemished skin and for superficial pigmentation.
Energy GP – a powerful skin-improving treatment that gives the skin new energy. Within fifteen days the skin is visibly renewed and strengthened, with a fresh and more even appearance.
Classic GP – the most intensive variant, with peeling. Within five days a completely renewed skin emerges, finished on day five with a Beauty Finish Treatment for a radiant end result.
Questions about DermaQuest peels
What is a DermaQuest peel?
DermaQuest peels consist of a combination of different ingredients, each with its own characteristic properties, such as powerful acids rich in plant stem cells, vitamins, antioxidants and peptides. This allows skin problems to be tackled effectively and efficiently.
Peels provide deep exfoliation and remove the dull layer of dead or damaged skin cells.
Clogged pores are cleared, the skin tone is improved and the skin is evened out overall, revealing healthy new skin.
What does a DermaQuest peel do?
Would you like smooth, flawless and radiant skin too? An effective method is a chemical peel treatment.
A chemical peel is an acid (liquid) that causes a chemical reaction when applied to the skin. There are several acids, each with its own unique properties, which can be used for different skin concerns. A chemical peel treatment aims to remove the top layer of skin (dead skin cells) in a controlled way by means of the acid.
By removing these old cells, the skin can repair itself, resulting in a boost of new skin cells. The result is healthy, radiant skin!
Because Stem Cell Technology stimulates faster skin recovery, the recovery period is relatively short compared with peels of the same strength from other brands.
What are the contraindications for a DermaQuest peel treatment?
- Of course, with any type of treatment it is important that you are sober.
- Inflammation/infection in the area to be treated
- Presence of herpes simplex (cold sores) in the area to be treated
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Fever
- Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus
- Immunological disorders/weakened immune system
- During cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc.)
- Keloid formation
- Fresh scars or wounds in the treatment area
- Allergy and/or known hypersensitivity to one or more ingredients
- A history of radiotherapy on the area to be treated, which may adversely affect recovery
- Recent surgery (within the last 6 months), such as an eyelid lift or eyelid correction
- Other medical considerations
What precautions should I take before a DermaQuest peel treatment?
- We advise avoiding the sun, sunbeds and self-tanning products for at least 2 weeks before the treatment.
Even so, you should still use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or 50.
Reapply every 2 hours if the skin is exposed to sunlight. - For darker skin (skin type III and up), we advise using a pigment-suppressing cream for at least 2 weeks before the treatment. This is available at our institute.
- Stop using topical antibiotics, vitamin A acid (tretinoin) or benzoyl peroxide 1 week before the treatment.
- If you frequently get cold sores, it is advisable to start a preventive course such as aciclovir or L-lysine before the treatment.
Your GP can prescribe it, or you can buy it at the pharmacy. If you have a cold sore, no treatment will take place and you will need to reschedule your appointment. - No waxing may be carried out in the area to be treated for 2 weeks before the peel treatment.
- Please do not shave the area to be treated on the day of the treatment, to avoid irritation. If necessary, do this 48 hours beforehand.
- Some medications make the skin more sensitive and vulnerable. If you use or change medication, or are ill, we would like to be informed before the treatment.
What is the recovery period after a DermaQuest peel treatment?
There may be some downtime during the first few days, with some flaking and peeling of the skin and an uncomfortable feeling.
How your skin reacts depends on your skin type and the concern being treated.
- Redness is a common reaction and the skin may feel hot and tight. Oedema and swelling can also be side effects. This feeling often subsides within a few hours.
- Depending on the intensity of the peel, the skin may start to flake; this is a sign that the skin is renewing itself. Peeling will begin on day 2 or 3 and lasts 4 to 7 days on average. Peeling is the desired reaction resulting from accelerated cell division.
- With some peels the skin first becomes darker, but this disappears again after flaking/peeling.
- The skin may be extra sensitive in the first week after the peel.
- The recovery process takes about 1 week on average after each treatment. Our institute has the right products available for purchase, so you can give your skin the best aftercare at home.
Why is it important to prepare your skin properly and follow the right aftercare with a DermaQuest peel treatment?
The skin needs to be brought into good condition and prepared for a powerful peel treatment.
This allows us to achieve excellent results in a safe and careful way.
After a peel, your skin is more susceptible to UV radiation, so you are more likely to develop pigmentation or sun damage.
With the skincare we recommend, you maintain the result of the peel and enjoy the skin-improving effect for longer.
Depending on the type of peel, you will start using the recommended home-care products before the treatment. The same applies after the treatment. It’s all about a Glam Skin!
It is important to follow the advice of the Glam Skin beautician carefully.
Would you rather not purchase products for home use or follow further advice? Then a peel at our institute is unfortunately not suitable for you.
You can, however, book another skincare facial from our treatment menu.
